Represent Canada at the IFMSA General Assembly in Puebla, Mexico (Aug 1-7, 2016)!
The International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA) connects and engages with a network of 1.3 million medical students from 124 national members organizations in 116 countries around the globe.
The IFMSA General Assemblies are among the biggest youth-led events around the world attended by over 800 medical students from more than 100 countries. These meetings hope to inspire the next generation of future physicians to become leaders and advocates through exchange of ideas, networking and learning from the various programming sessions.
Applications are due by May 11th, 2016 at 23:59 EST.
Partial funding to attend the meeting is available. In your application, please include details about potential sources (eg. school, student council, external organization etc.) of additional funding available to you.

Apply to be one of the CFMS National Exchange Officers (NEO)!
As the NEO (Outgoing Exchanges), you will have the chance to provide opportunities for Canadian medical students to participate in clinical and research placements abroad via the IFMSA-CFMS International Exchange Program. The position has a 2-year term starting June 2016, during which you will be able to attend multiple IFMSA General Assemblies around the world to negotiate exchange contracts from our partner National Member Organizations. You will also work closley with the NEO (Incoming Exchanges), VP Global Health, and other Global Health National Officers to support and improve the activities of the CFMS Global Health Program.

The Catholic Centre for Immigrants and the University of Ottawa are proud to host the 2016 National Summer Institute in Refugee Health, presented by the WHO Collaborating Centre on Technology Assessment and Health Equity and the Canadian Collaboration for Immigrant and Refugee Health. This exciting one-week leadership program is designed for medical students and international medical graduates seeking valuable experience in cross cultural communication skills, PTSD and medical expertise, and leading community service learning programs. Once again this year, the CMA will be offering a first or second year CFMS student member the chance to complete an internship at their head office in Ottawa.
Students who participate in this summer intern program will acquire an understanding of the breadth of current issues facing the medical profession as well as hands-on experience in program and policy development.
Be mentored by physicians and others on staff at CMA
Gain exposure to elected physician leaders
Become familiar with the key current issues facing the profession
Be assigned a major project, aligned with the CMA’s strategic priorities, for completion during the internship which could include such activities as:
o conducting literature reviews on professional issues and summarizing key
o writing summaries, articles, letters intended for internal and external audiences
o developing issues and options paper for policy consideration
o participate in and present at internal and external meetings
o make formal presentations at the end of the term outlining a summary of their internship experience
Contribute to CMA Ethics’ work in two key areas: 1) all activities in end-of-life care and assisted dying and 2) policy development and review of CMA’s privacy-related policies findings

Join us in Montreal QC for the CFMS Spring General Meeting, in conjunction with the Canadian Conference on Medical Education, April 15-16, 2016!
The Spring General Meeting is an opportunity for Canadian medical students to get together and discuss important medical education, advocacy, global health, wellness issues, and more. Join the conversation, get involved, we want to hear from you!
REGISTRATION FEES: Registration fee is $135 per delegate, payable by cash or cheque to CFMS or in person at SGM 2016. This DOES NOT include hotel accommodations. Students must arrange for their own hotels (excluding CFMS-funded delegates).
NOTE: all SGM 2016 attendees MUST also register for CCME and will be required to pay a $50 student fee.
Nominations are now open for the position of President-Elect of the Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS).
Nominations will close strictly at this time. Any CFMS member student may run. While previous experience with the workings of the CFMS is strongly encouraged, it is not required.

Medical societies, meeting delegates and member medical students are invited to put forward resolutions for discussion and debate at the CFMS Spring General Meeting during the Members Resolutions Session (tentatively scheduled for Saturday, April 16th, 2016). Resolutions should reflect an understanding of ongoing and past work, and resolutions must pertain to new work of the Federation. Members are encouraged to review resolutions submitted at the previous meeting, available on the CFMS website under the AGM 2015 meeting documents section.
